The Scottish Teachers' Pension Scheme (STPS) is administered by the Scottish Public Pensions Agency. Your contribution is tiered by salary, from 7.35% up to 12.14% for 2026/27, applied to your whole pensionable salary. The employer adds 26%— the most generous employer rate of Scotland's three big public-sector schemes.
STPS is career average (CARE): you earn 1/57th of pensionable pay as guaranteed annual pension each year, revalued while you stay in service. Contributions come from gross pay before tax, so relief is automatic at your marginal Scottish rate.
