Business rates are charged on most non-domestic properties in Scotland. The amount you pay depends on your property's rateable value (set by the Scottish Assessors) multiplied by the poundage rate set by the Scottish Government.
| Rateable value | Rate (per £) |
|---|---|
| Up to £51,000 | 49.9p |
| £51,001 – £100,000 | 54.6p (intermediate) |
| Over £100,000 | 55.7p (higher) |
100% relief for single properties with a rateable value up to £12,000. Tapered relief from £12,001 to £20,000. Around 116,100 properties (46% of all non-domestic properties) receive SBBS relief.
A business rates revaluation took effect in April 2026. Your rateable value may have changed — check on the Scottish Assessors website (saa.gov.uk) and update the figure above.
